"perfectly pleasant" We stayed here on a short trip - just dropping in on relatives in Auckland for a couple of days before heading home. We had a "Park Suite" room, which was a genuine suite with separate sitting room. The hotel is very nice- reception staff were pleasant and helpful and the concierge was very good (especially with road directions!). We had a hire car so getting around was no problem (and the valet parking was great), but if you are without your own transport you'll find yourself taking a lot of taxis or doing a great deal of walking to get down to places like Viaduct Harbour. Can't rate the food in the main restaurant as we didn't bother with eating in, but the complimentary continental breakfast in the "Club lounge" was perfectly nice. The rooms were a good size, both the sitting room and the bedroom had giant flat screen TVs (perfect for watching all that football!) and the hotel provided all the services you'd expect like turn down etc. The bed was very large and very comfortable with a 6 pillows and a pillow menu for more! I'd stay here again, but beware the rather long distance to tourist attractions if you don't have transport.

"Fantastic hotel, Excellent service" I stayed at Langhams on the 17th of Aug 06 for three nights. Was originally supposed to check in on the 18th but had to catch an earlier flight into Auckland. Reception was extremely helpful and although the hotel was fully booked due to the rugby I managed to book in one night earlier than expected, which saved me from going to another hotel for one night. The hotel is absolutely beautiful, it was so clean and spacious. The lobby is amazing and the concierge and reception were gracious, friendly and helpful. Beautiful rooms, classic antique style furniture, huge comfortable bed and a flat screen tv !! Bathroom was spacious and clean. Went up at night to take a dip in the pool and the water was warm. Well equipped gym and a sauna too. Noticed there were orange and white barricades out the front of the hotel so Im guessing they were doing some construction. Never heard a thing. Hotel was fully booked out. Had a family with five children next door and didn't hear a peep from them. House cleaning was offered up to three times a day. Beds turned down every night (if wanted) and choccies left for you too. Definately had to mention the computer access in front of the elevators on the level that I was on. Television screens in there to watch the news while you use the internet (which was free of charge!!) Check room rates regularly and book through the hotel. You might strike it lucky!!. I stayed there during the rugby tri nations with a friend and only had to pay $190 per night. Absolute steal for a five star hotel. If given the chance I'd definately pay the full rate to stay again. Oh and I didn't get charged for items I didn't use from the mini bar, which has happened at every other hotel I have stayed at. Toiletries topped up every morning with fresh towels if you needed them. There is a small walk into town (five minutes max), but there is a free shuttle if you wish to use it. Also a limo service which has the same base rate as a taxi?? (Not sure if i read the details right) I cannot compliment enough, the staff employed at Langhams. From the management, concierge, porters, bar staff and the cleaners. They were all fantastic and offered the best service I could've expected. Professional, friendly and helpful, nothing was too much of a hassle. I definately recommend Langahams over any other hotel I've stayed at!!
